This series of “portraits” came about by chance when I went to the Topfield Fair last October. I wandered into the Hen and Rooster exhibit and was just about to leave after five minutes of looking at newly hatched chicks, when I thought I would photograph one of the more colorful roosters in his cage. When I checked the image it was not the color that arrested my attention, but rather the bird’s expression: Proud, warrior like, and clearly a descendent of dinosaurs, (or so I am told). I spent another hour and a half pointing my camera lens into the cages of these here-to-fore (at least by me) overlooked birds. I hope you enjoy the variety of personalities I discovered as much as I do. Can’t wait until the next fair!
